Frequently Asked Questions |
You are welcome to watch your pets grooming in process as long as you keep the following in mind: you will more than likely get hair and dander covering your clothes and skin, you may get wet (possibly soaked if your dog is a shaker), and if your dog is too easily distracted by your presence then I will have to ask you to leave the van. After all, I am working with sharp instruments and a moving target.
For the first visit, and possibly the second depending on your dogs behavior, I do ask that you be home so our meet and greet goes smoothly. Dogs are natural protectors of their home territory and family. First introductions are important so that your pet and myself can become good friends, its best if your home.
After we are friends, you will not need to be home. One of the biggest advantages of mobile grooming is that you don't have to be home. You can be busy with work, errands, family activities, etc. I can be the one who makes sure your dog is well cared for and keep him occupied for part of the day that he/she may normally be alone. I am bonded and insured so no worries there either.
The law requires all dogs to be up to date on the rabies vaccine. It is also highly recommended to administer DHLPP (Distemper Hepatitis Leptospirosis Parvo Parainfluenza), Canine Flu, and the Bordetella vaccines if your dog will be in contact with or near other dogs. Please call your veterinarian to see what they recommend.
Although LYM does not have any "vicious breed" restrictions, we do have restrictions on size and behavior issues.
Size: dogs need to be able to fit comfortably on the table and in the tub during the grooming process. Some adult breeds are simply too large i.e. Newfoundlands, Great Pyranese, & Great Danes. Please contact LYM with your specific breed of dog & size if you are unsure.
Behavior: in some cases a dog may be too aggressive, stressed, afraid, etc to groom. This is determined on a case by case basis. LYM has years of experience with these types of behaviors and is successful at grooming the majority of them. If the behavior becomes dangerous for the groomer or the pet, the process will be stopped and a charge will be incurred based on the amount of groom completed at that time with a minimum fee of $25.
Love Your Mutt reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
Prices start at $65. Please call to get a more specific quote as it depends on breed, coat, frequency of grooming and whether you would like a bath or haircut.
Love Your Mutt does offer a referral discount. If you send a new client (a person that has not used this mobile service before) that is within the service area(s), you will get a $10 discount off your next grooming appointment. The person simply needs to mention you and or your pets first and last name when making their appointment.
Appointment times are Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. If you need an earlier or later time, please call and arrangements may be able to be made.
I require a 48 hour cancellation notice. This is important as we work by route (part of town) and schedule around the time allotted to groom your dog. I need the 48 hours in order to rearrange my schedule and find a replacement. Failure to call 48 hours in advance may result in a charge of $25 that must be paid prior to your next grooming appointment. Please understand that LYM reserved the time for your specific pet and residence. To contact LYM in the event you do need to cancel, 24 hour voicemail is available to you as well as email. If a client is a "no call, no show" the cancellation fee will be for the entire amount of the groom.
All dogs need to be groomed every 2, 4 or 6 weeks. Undercoat and dander should be removed on a regular basis to help promote a healthy lifestyle. Nails need trimmed to prevent painful brakes and cracks. Grooming is also an important time between your yearly vet visits. I have discovered illnesses that may have otherwise gone unnoticed and then been too late to treat. Things like weight loss, thinning of hair, rashes, cuts, bumps, cysts etc can all be caught with regular grooming.
On the night before your appointment, or the morning of (depending on when the snow comes) I will call you and tell you if I think the snow is too bad to drive in. If possible I will do a snow schedule and start a few hours later than originally planned. If the snow is too bad to drive in, then we will work out another appointment date and time.

Because my first priority is the current appointment I may not answer the phone. One on one time for you and your pet is of utmost importance, and every pet deserves undivided attention during the grooming process. Please leave a message on the voicemail and I will return your call as soon as possible. Emails will be checked daily and responded to in the evenings.
No. Love Your Mutt, LLC is my business, and I have no ties to any franchise. When you request my services, you are supporting a small business.
Seven years of cat grooming experience has taught me that grooming cats safely requires two groomers. Since I currently operate with one groomer per van, I'm not currently grooming cats.
